Welcome to the new Radio Free Hawaii

In the mid 1990's an idea came to radio, that changed the way we listen to music. The idea, was that radio was being controlled by too few, and that if the listeners gained control of the airwaves, radio would be awesome.

That idea spawned Radio Free Hawaii, a listener programmed radio station with a staff of music lovers who let the people program the music. Ballots and statewide surveys ensured a fresh new playlist of music every week, punctuated by a countdown of votes every Saturday morning. Sadly, this approach to radio programming didn't last, and the station was off air by the end of the decade.

Today, new life has been given to Radio Free Hawaii, and once again the airwaves belong to the listeners. Your Vote determines the playlist. Your voice controls the music. You are in control. The revolution is reborn, and this time, the revolution is Digital. Welcome to the new Radio Free Hawaii - 101.9 HD-2
