Radio Free Hawaii

Music by the people

Hi there,

i used to live in Waikiki way back in 91-93, overstaying my welcome on a travelling trip around the world. Working at 'Seaside Hostel' and doing various jobs for VIP car rentals, painting and decorating and running a hostel on the north shore. Everywhere i went Radio Free Hawaii was my soundtrack. And what a soundtrack it was. I loved the democracy of it and it showed that what the record companies via the Corporate radio stations forced down our ears was not what we wanted to listen too. We were far more amenable to different styles, genres etc and through our voting, proved that.

Shame it stopped broadcasting but i was long gone by then. The same thing happened in London on my return home. XFM was a fantastic, eclectic radio station for about two years. Then a corporate entity took over and within a week you knew the time was up. In comes bland, bland, bland music that you can hear on every other station.

Glad i found the site guys/gals keep up the great work.
